I had a meeting at my daughters school this morning and on my way out of the office a darling kindergarten girl held the door open for me. I love when kids show good manners so I said, Why thank you Maam and then headed to the set of double doors to deliver something to my sons classroom. She and her hallway buddy followed behind me, so I told them now it was my turn to hold the door for them. As she walked through..... Why thank you Mama! -Girl You are most welcome. -Me The last door really made my arm hurt because I have a scar. -Girl Oh dear. Do you mean you have a bruise? A scar usually wouldnt hurt. -Me No, I have this kind of scar. From when I was a baby. They had to build my arm. -Girl, and she turned over her arm to show me a large surgical scar several inches wide that ran from the inside of her elbow to her wrist. Now that is a scar! Do you know what I really like about scars like yours? They tell a good story about how much your mom and dad and doctors loved you to make you healthy and strong. -Me Yeah the doctors had to put me to sleep. AND I have a LOOSE TOOTH! -Girl Oh my goodness! An amazing arm AND a loose tooth! -Me I dont have any teeth. -Hallway Buddy, showing us his jack-o-lantern grin AND I KNOW WHAT NINE TIMES TEN IS! -Girl Tell me, what is it? -Me 90! -Girl Whoa. -Hallway Buddy This is all blowing my mind. Now I know three Full of Awesome things about you. -Me I know. You can come to my birthday party. -Girl I just really, really like short people. They know they are awesome until they are taught they are not, and everything is resolved, celebrated, and finalized with birthday party invites and multiplication facts.
