I had a moment today which I chalk up to another Angel Encounter, - TopicsExpress

I had a moment today which I chalk up to another Angel Encounter, because it was so random, yet so EXACTLY what my heart needed to hear ... After an exhausting day running around and shuttling/visiting with The Beloved Elders, I called in a carry out order at The Country Cafe near my house. Their food is excellent, it is always ready when promised, and with a flare-up of the arthritis in my spine & neck, I did not feel up to cooking, nor waiting anywhere for food. I was still up in St. Louis when I called in my order, a good 25 minute drive away. I stopped for gas and arrived 8 minutes AFTER I was told my order would be ready, only to be asked to take a seat on the bench as they were running behind. No sooner had I settled myself on the bench than sits down next to me a tall, thin, elderly man in bib overalls. He says to me, out of the blue, I just came from the nursing home. I believe I will be forced to move my wife back there, even though she just got home from rehab. She is too much for me to care for anymore. I dont know what would have happened today, had my NIECE not dropped by when she did, cuz my wife went down and I had worn myself out trying to lift her. Thankfully with my nieces help we got her up. I went and spoke with the nursing home administrstors, and now I am picking up fried chicken to take back to the house. He went on, We are old and did not plan this out very well. My niece doesnt live very close, so I know every time she comes over its a sacrifice for her. I dont know where wed be today if not for all shes done. He paused, then added, My neice would do anything for us, and shed never complain. But you see, we must come up with a plan for ourselves and not put that burden on my neice. She has a life to live, and we should not keep her from it. So I went today to find out what it will cost to move my wife permanently into a home where shell get the care she needs, and well not burden anyone else. He smiled at me, And here I am burdening you with my woes when you probably wont have to deal with this for many years to come. I told the man that I had spent a few hours today with my elderly Aunt and Uncles, buying books and magazinee for them to read, cookies and candies for sweet treats, and going through their mail and paying bills online. I said, Before my family members needed help, my life was lacking in PURPOSE. I know they appreciate me - and your niece knows you do her, too! I am actually grateful that I may be of service - it is possible your niece enjoys helping you. Just then my name was called, and he and I wished one another luck. I said, God bless you and your wife. To which he replied, YOU are a blessing. I am certain of it. God be with you. Somehow that random little exchange has given me a really good feeling in my heart.
