I had a nice new tool shed put in my side yard. Very soon after, it became the home to a hive of bees. I did some DIY stuff to get rid of them and it seemed to work for a while. When I got home from AK last summer they were back. I tried some more stuff and that didnt work either. Im tired of having my power equipment hanging out in the patio because I cant get it into the shed without being bumped into by a bunch of bees. I never got stung because I kept a level head and retreated from the area slowly. Today I called in a bee removal guy. He cut a 3x4 hole in my shed floor revealing an active hive in the space beneath the 2x6 raised floor. The first pic is the underside of the floor and the second is the area beneath the flooring. The guy used a vacuum cleaner contraption to suck many thousands of bees into a box. He got the queen! Now he will re-home the bees with their queen. I got quite a bit of honey comb filled with honey. Now I need to extract it and strain out the bits of wax. He sprayed to kill the few remaining bees and put some powder under the floor and buttoned it all back up. $400 later I am able to use my shed and have some sweet stuff for my biscuits! I dont need to move to Alaska to be around wildlife! LOL!
