I had a thought, as I was looking at Kamen Rider ZX today...The Great Leader and his concept have some definite Lovecraft vibes and similarities. Over the course of the Showa Era it is revealed that every evil organization/cult has been controlled by him. The Great Leader is an extraterrestrial entity that seems to be focused on causing hate and chaos and attempting to take over the planet. It isnt entirely sure what he is, spiritual or some other type of entity. He takes many forms ranging from a veined head with a single eye, to a mass of tentacles, a distorted spider type creature, to a reptilian creature, an enormous man sitting on a throne of tentacles, to just an incorporeal giant skull. His robed agents use twisted science and black magic to create distorted combinations of man and monster, cyborgs and mutants. And, no matter what, it seems he cannot actually be defeated. Every time he seems to be gone, he simply waits and reappears in a new avatar. Theres a whole lot more to him, and the Spirits manga goes into even more of it. But, I thought he kinda seemed a little Lovecraftian...especially, the tentacles. ;)
