I had a truly super evening at Strange Brew, my new favorite music venue in BSA (Beautiful South Austin). Finally got to see Steve Poltz whom my good friend Jim Carroll has been recommending to me for a good while. He did not disappoint (witness the 2 CDs I bought). Excellent songs & stories, great stage presence...a true entertainer who does not neglect the show aspect of show business. Ill make every effort to not miss him whenever hes in town from now on. Hes opening the Kerrville Folk Festival at 7pm Thursday, 5/22. Highly recommended. It was also a bit like old home week at SB as I got to see several old friends...many of whom I hadnt seen since the glory days of Chicago House back in the late 20th century... Kacy Crowley (working the door), Billy Harvey, John Phillips (all 3 vets of the open mic I hosted at CH); Jimmy LaFave who preceeded me as open mic host; Gurf Morlix; Chris Gage & Tony Airoldi who played just before SP; & my dear friends Rachel Ferguson, Regan Brown, & David Schunk. & I met Grant Peeples wholl be playing at SB tomorrow with Gurf (good chance Ill be there). What fun! Woohoo!
