I had a very WW2 themed movie weekend so I thought I would share. 1. Miasto 44 (City 44) came out in Polish cinemas recently. A big budget (big for Poland) movie about a love story set to the brutality of the Warsaw Uprising. Brings to the screen one of the most intense, heroic, and fatalistic events of the war. A bit hollywoodish campy in the early scenes quickly devolves into the horrible reality of the uprising. Overall a strong film worthy of seeing. Not sure when it will be released elsewhere. Right now only S.Korea (??) announced. Trailer (with english subs): https://youtube/watch?v=qr2xzv4k5v4 2. Run Boy Run (Biegnij chlopcze biegnij) - Based on the incredible true story of a 9 year old boy who escapes from the Warsaw ghetto and against all odds survives the war through the help of some strangers and despite the betrayal of others. This movie in particular really portrays well (similar to The Pianist) of how incredibly difficult the situation in Poland was during the war and how nothing was black and white. Based on the best selling novel of Uri Olev. Out in Germany, Poland, Israel, Hungary Trailer: https://youtube/watch?v=h2glYxp4jw0 Im interested to hear what you think.
