I had a very high high and a very low low last week that I hadnt intended to share simply because its not about me. But I continue to be plagued with heartbreak for the one it does affect and decided that maybe my role in this is outreach and informing others. Back in April, I joined the Be the Match bone marrow donor registry. This past week, I found out I was a potential donor for a 4 year old little boy overseas. We started the process, set the appt for blood draw...everything was happening fast and I was nervously excited about helping this little boy. After an extensive health questionnaire and a few phone calls about some of my answers, I was ruled out as a potential donor due to ongoing symptoms of Bells Palsey. It was disappointing but like I said in the beginning it wasnt about me. But my heart breaks for the 4 yr old little boy that I might have been his only match. So, Im saying all of this to say that if youre a healthy person and youve ever thought about being a donor or maybe youve never thought about it at all and this has got you thinking, check it out.
