I had an amazing evening. I go to a local pub on Tuesdays. The regulars range from 40-90 years of age. My best friend there is 71. I was outside checking my phone when a man ran up to me excitedly, saying he was from the liquor store next door and that a lady customer was having difficulties. All he understood was that she needed to get a hold of someone in the pub. I ran over to check on her but I didnt recognize her. She said she had Parkinsons and hadnt taken her medication in time. She was shaking and couldnt walk. I ran back to the pub to look for the person she was with. Turns out it was her mom who said she would be right over after she paid the bill. I ran back to the lady to say her mom was on the way. Long story short, this entire scenario occurred in a run-down, poverty-stricken, crime-ridden neighborhood. Every single person who passed by asked if they could help. Every single person. Cars stopped to see if she was okay and if we needed assistance. The employee of the liquor store left his post for a good while to make sure she was in good hands. I feel privileged to have been a part of it. I have a strong desire to say more but Im going to leave it at that.
