I had an amazing night last night ....with the builder/renovator/designer/inspirer who is involved in the future work on my new place....this man has travelled through Africa living in a Land rover for 15 years... and currently lives in the most beautiful 2 bedroomed truckhouse which is Africa bound soon....we chatted until early morning and came up with a plan for my stable renovation. I have a tawny owl that feeds in there, I have birds coming in to feed off the live rock wall eating plants and bugs. I wanted nature in the room as well as a space to live in there... The outcome is evolving into a glass sliding door that covers the rock face, and extends to the side wall... and increased drainage to hold the existing natural waterflow from the rain. In this drainage area will be soil and plants behind the glass. I have one odd shaped corner in the room (behind the screen) and that will be turned into a mini nature reserve connected outside through removing stones yet still behind the glass screen. This will allow the existing wildlife to come in and to continue feeding off the living wall and I can watch it.... then we put a rocket stove into the main room wrapped in thermal conducting material and that can be used to cook on too... and there is nothing better than feeling these plans emerging and someone saying Yes...I can do that...whilst you sit in the most amazing converted truck looking at his skills....
