I had an epiphany! The Constitution as it relates to Government - TopicsExpress

I had an epiphany! The Constitution as it relates to Government is much like The Prime Directive to Star Fleet in the Startrek world. The Prime Directive was the surpreme rule when it came to dealing with new species. Even if sometimes if felt like it was in someones best intrests to violate the prime directive and intervene in certain situations (and often times they may have skirrted certian gray areas to assist) they were commanded not to and restrained by thier duty to thier star fleet oath and rule of law. The Constitution is a safeguard put in place to protect our constitutionally guarenteed civil rights. The Government cannot deprive us of those rights. Even if sometimes it feels like it may be nessicary for Government to infringe on our god given natural rights even temporarily in the name of our safety...it might seem like a good idea...but we must be steadfast and not allow it. If we allow it in one instance Government may feel inclinced to intrude on them at will. We must protect all rights from government intrusion even if they become inconvient at the time or even if theyre ones you personally dont like or agree with. Like the Prime Directive the Constitution is the surpreme law of the land....star fleet could have amended the directive to allow thier officers to intervene if they thought it was nessicary..but they didnt...if people feel the constitution no longer serves its purpose..then amend it instead of working outside of it in violation of it. But until it is amended it is a sacred text and should be preserved as our prime directive and not violated.
