I had an interesting conversation recently about the Holiday - TopicsExpress

I had an interesting conversation recently about the Holiday season and why non-Christians have to, in the words of my friend, put up with, Christian themed marketing nonsense this time of year. The friend was agnostic, but he was asking as if defending non-Christian religions, too. I simply said, Math. He looked puzzled. I said (without looking anything up) that the U.S. is probably 75% Christian. Turns out, I was wrong. Its 78%. Judaism and all other major religions account for less than 5% combined. The atheist/agnostic/undetermined set is 16%. So the answer is, Math. Granted, this has nothing to do with religious intolerance, but it might explain the overindulgence in Christian-themed messages, conversations and sentiments. Regardless of anyones chosen belief system, or lack thereof, heres hoping the underlying sentiment of happiness, peace and joy warms us all. ;-)
