I had an interesting conversation with the guy I flew with last weekend about Network Marketing, and why most people fail at it, why its gotten such a bad rep, and the realities of actually succeeding in the business. A LOT of people judge the industry based on the smarmy tactics of some companies, or they see it all as a scam, or you have to be lucky, get in right at the start, etc. The truth about Network Marketing, or Direct Selling, Relationship Marketing, whatever you want to call it, is that it IS a viable business plan but has to be done right. There are actual skills and philosophies that can lead to ultimate success, just like there are philosophies that can quickly and easily lead to horrible failure. Many people get into the business based on a lie: Its easy, you can do it just in your spare time, a few minutes per day, and youll make millions! All of your friends will join you and youll be a superstar! Truth: Its NOT easy, it takes considerable time, and building an organization to make a 6 figure income usually takes at least a couple of years. It IS a business, and you have to treat it as such, professionally, with integrity, and logically mapped out. You cant bombard all of your friends with this, because they are most likely the last ones to come along. Most people just want the Greatest reward for least amount of work. That doesnt exist, thats the fairy tale, the lie the snakes are telling. The truth is if youre willing to make the sacrifices in time, effort, and money to build a business, and put in the greatest effort, you can succeed. You have to have integrity, have products that have measured, real, viable, and proven results, and you have to believe in them entirely. IF this is done right, honestly, consistently and persistently, there is an amazing opportunity to be had.
