I had an interesting little encounter with a couple of LITTLE - TopicsExpress

I had an interesting little encounter with a couple of LITTLE kids, maybe ages 4 & 6 (too young to be wandering along in an abandoned cemetery by themselves) when I arrived this afternoon. At first Id hoped to ignore them. But they came over to me and ask if I was the Cemetery Man. I said no and that I just came out there sometimes to work. They then said they was looking for their dog. I assumed their dog had run away and told them that I had seen a pup near the entrance when I came in. The boy say, No, Dutchess is dead. My Daddy buried her here and weve come to visit her. The little girl, who has been holding a ratty old silk flower in her hand, then chimes in We want to give Dutchess a fower. They continued to follow me around. At one point the boy is looking at a gravestone and asks who is buried there. I said that I didnt know and ask him what the name was on the stone...assuming he could read. Well, he looks the stone over carefully and yells, Maybe George Washington? I got curious and went over to look and he points out the letter G and W in the mans name. I gently suggested that George Washington was probably buried somewhere else. Next, he and the girl get to talking and ask me, How do you spell Dutchess. I spelled it for them and they took off Pretty soon they are yelling that theyve found Dutchess. I went to look and theyd found Mr. DUncan. He had caught the D & U. I tried to gently suggest that their Dutchess probably did not have a gravestone. They sort of sadly backed off and went home after that. I felt kinda bad for them. They WERE cute though.
