I had an interesting situation today. A chap who had booked a surprise birthday for his wife last week on a Sunday Lunch rang . He was quite distressed since he had just been talking to his wife and she had told him that she was ringing me to book on the same day. He first told me that I should say that I had a full house and could not fit her party on the day. I replied that we rarely have a full house and she may book elsewhere if she could not book Alfreds. I told him that perhaps the best strategy is to make out hat certain people could not attend and get her to book the following Sunday. It was interesting that when she rang she did ask for the same day but instead of the 30+ she said she could possibly have as many as 60+. I told her that it would be no problem fitting her in and she said she would check her numbers and buy at the deal price on Monday.ie $26pp for a $46pp value. It will be interesting to see what happens.We will know on Monday I presume.Perhaps the fact that she thinks she is organizing the party will most likely be to his advantage since he will have a list of the guests that should attend to surprise her. I presume he will anxiously ring me about the double change in numbers very soon. I dont know about you but surprise birthdays are not my cup of tea. I like to look forward to a special event like a dog that salivates awaiting food. This poor chap is in trouble since his wife must handle all the special occasions including her special birthday. It will be amazing if he succeeds to surprise her.
