I had an issue with the idea of shame. Its very widespread here for people to fear shame and avoid it at all costs. I found that very limiting and not very comprehensible. I thought it would be better to be motivated by values rather than shame. I guess Im reconsidering this a bit, my issue should be what causes shame, not with shame itself. Sometimes in the absence of values, shame can bring us closer to human decency. Today I see an Egypt without shame and Im not sure I like it.
