I had an opportunity by phone tonight to catch up with a dear friend who has known me for the past sixteen years. She knew me prior to belonging to Mountain Lake Church and since I become a member. Id had an afternoon where I was allowing others pain, brokenness, and apathy to set a tone in my head and was fighting really hard to make it through all the feelings that crash in on you, threatening to drown you with doubt and resentment. In that moment, I was feeling overwhelmed and then she caught me in the busyness of my life and gave me the lifeline I was struggling to find. She told me that joy shines through in everything I do. That the more she saw me become involved at MLC the more inner calm and confidence I displayed. That all the happiness and joy I get from doing and being was amplified when I found this place. That I basically dont sweat the small stuff anymore. I have to be honest and say that there are days when I sure dont feel as if I live up to all that she said, but I am blessed beyond measure to have her in my life and to be validated by someone I respect and admire so very much. She reminded me of my strength and determination to be the person I want to be. God used her to refocus my attention back to where it should be. Thank you Essie Matusevich for reminding me that its not about me. For giving me encouragement when I need it and a kick in the backside when that is called for as well. For sticking with me when I told you years ago how important honesty was for me and for always telling me the truth and giving me a place where I know my articulations, fears, secrets, hopes and dreams are safe. You are more than a friend and I love you!!!!
