I had another fun lesson this morning with Tina Charette-Pitton - TopicsExpress

I had another fun lesson this morning with Tina Charette-Pitton daughter Emma. I have never taught lessons to someone so young. In fact, normally I dont start until they are 7 or older. Emma isnt 3 yet. But she has such a great way around the animals and she learns so quickly. And having sweet, gentle 32 year old Carla makes it so easy. The best part of the lessons - Emma is helping me find the fun again. Any time I try to teach something structured, Emma switches gears. I have to be present, ready moment to moment to switch tracks and stay were Emma needs me to be. And in the process, I am remembering how rewarding it is to play and do what you feel like in the moment. No agenda. No goal. We started in the garage because of the weather. After a bit, she wanted to take Carla for a walk. Then she wanted to go into the round pen, and we did things like ask Carla to do a turn on the haunch or the forehand. Suddenly, Emma looks up and says Im cold. So we start back to the barn. Half way there, she says Carla wants to eat now so we take off her halter and say thank you. She is so in tune with the moment, challenging me to be as well. I really enjoy these lessons. What a wonderful little girl!
