I had been told that the building was used as a hospital during the War of Aggression. I stood at the window in that corner and looked out to see if I could see the Ocmulgee. I was told you could have seen it then. And in that room, that small room, the saw bones did his work. The arms and legs piled up outside the window until they were level with the window. Standing there, I looked down and it was some 15 or so feet to where I stood. In the distance I could hear a train whistle blow, bringing more. Of a warm sunny afternoon, I could hear their voices. There was never time to think about could I save this one or that one. Most were lost.
