I had been working on writing and sharing Eddies story for quite some time. There is a lot more to it that I left out, when Eddie lived with me and how that all came about, also the RFTW taking Eddie home from Ca. back to AL. The biggest part of left out was about his wife Helen but she will be in the second book so she is not lost in Eddies story Last year during the government shutdown I changed course. I knew from listening to Eddie and reading his letters that veterans fear losing their benefits. I know in Eddie’s case they were hard fought for and gave Eddie a little peace of mind. His bad and extensive dealing with V.A. left him not only fearful of them but he hated them. I practically know his letters by heart what is in the book is just a fraction of what Eddie wrote. The ones I included show’s his hard fought battle with the V.A. over 50 years ago. There are countless veterans who have stories similar to Eddies. Eddie made copies of everything he wrote because when his V.A. file went to Washington it was found vital portions of his file were missing. From then on even when he lived with me he made copies. Now I believe his dated documented letters can politically be put to good use. Eddies letters date back over 50 years ago with 50 years of empty promises from politicians. Thank you all for following Eddies story what happened to Eddie and Helen can happen to anyone no doubt it has. I included pictures of how Eddie and Helen were living as a reminder of why I do this. It also shows what it looks like when we make our veterans beg for help. Its long over due for real change with our V.A. system. Respectfully, Pam
