I had #dinner at the Plaza Peninsula location in #Cancun centro, seated on the patio just in time to enjoy the live #Sax Trio. Attentive service. The tables for two are slightly longer than normal, so it felt very far away, and they gladly turned the whole table sideways for us. Hands down the best #pasta I have ever had. I normally judge #Italian restaurants on the #cannelloni, so that all things are compared equally. I was a little disappointed that they did not have cannelloni, so I asked the waiter for a recommendation. To my surprise, and delight of my taste-buds, he did not recommend the most expensive type of pasta - typically seafood. The waiter recommended: Little Green Hats . . . . . $100 “Famous since 1988”, Filled with ricotta cheese and prepared with a touch of butter and sage sauce. Although it had more than a touch of butter, but it did not need a drop less, it was absolutely fantastic. My companion had the Oven Baked Penne. . . . . $175 Sautéed penne with a delicious tomato sauce, oregano and melted mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Which was also quite good, though I thought the pasta was slightly under cooked. The sauce was wonderful, delicious, light, and just the right amount of cheese. Though my friend loves #cheese and kind of drowned it in fresh #Parmesan, I tried it prior to the extra cheese. I highly recommend both, but the Little Green Hats I will definitely be having again! We skipped appetizers and dessert unfortunately, as we had movie tickets. So I will be back to try out their appetizers and desserts. I was also very happy that they had #wine from my favorite little #winery, Adobe Guadalupe (the only Mexican wine I really look for and enjoy very much). It is a boutique winery, they breed Spanish Horses as well. The wines are a limited production and really quite nice, elegant, flavorful, and soft. My favorite is Jardin Secreto or Miguel. In Cenacolo they had Miguel, a wonderful red wine with a nice price point, not too expensive and not inexpensive. I believe the wine was $960 pesos. adobeguadalupe/nuestros_vinos.html?l=eng is the link directly to their website. Miguel Type of wine: Red Varieties: Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Merlot Aged: 10 months in French and American oak Aging capacity: Medium-High
