I had fasted for forty days many times, and I knew that it was time to do so again. I was pressing in, but my heart had lost its drive to pray and read my Bible regularly anymore. Something was missing, and I was going to have to fast to break through this lazy lack of determination, consecration, and commitment. I only hoped my fast would be enough to do it. As I began my fasting and prayer Father spoke something to me that shocked me, Son, I want you to fast your bible reading and prayer times. What!?! God would never say that! but it was Him and i knew it beyond a doubt. I hoped He knew what He was doing because My strength was already waning and this fast was my effort to get things back on track. So i stopped it all, and just prayed whenever i felt to while I was working in my new job as a skilled laborer after having lost my management position. As i was thinking and pondering life one day at work suddenly Father was right there with me. He spoke tenderly and loving to me and did not come across at all like I perceived Him in my devotional times. i asked Him, why are you here? i am not praying and reading as i am supposed to and have given up all my efforts to do so. He said, Son, that is why I am here, because you finally stopped your efforts to do so! It is your very work to get closer to me that has kept you from embracing the fact that I have never left and am always here. Just rest in my love.
