I had long hair , played hard rock guitar and had the look of a hippie when I was young , It made it hard for me to get a job and older people looked at me like I was trash. Every thing I did was not right by elders because it didnt conform to their idea of a up standing citizen , but I was a good kid with good grades and staid out of trouble. Now I see black kids wearing clothes that dont match my idea of a up standing citizen , at first I caught myself having thoughts of these kids that I later realized was very racist, Locking my doors when I saw black kids dressed like this , but not thinking a thing about the white kid dressed the same. I am so ashamed of some of the thoughts that have ran through my mind in the past. I finally started talking to a good friend of mine that is extremely smart about racism and prejudice for some tips on good reads of the subject, I sat a path of enlightenment for my self reading good history books on whites and blacks and also reading the Bible which further pushed me for a ultimate goal of equality and loving everyone with color blind eyes . Understanding , education and compassion is the key to solving problems in this world.
