I had mixed feelings about sharing this, but I think its an important reminder of how vulnerable we are. Its time to share and raise awareness to increase personal safety!!! Last weekend, 4 of us went to watch the fights at Calgarys Deerfoot Meadows Shark Club. Steve had decided to go home early as training for his competition had left him tired. I was left with a married couple, who were fitness friends from the gym. We had finished dinner and moved to the bar upstairs. We werent drinking excessively - at this point I had 2 glasses of wine. The bartender, a familiar face from our gym poured us 3 shots (1 each) and we thanked him and drank them. I cant be 100% of the time that passed, I think less than an hour and I ran to the washroom in the restaurant - VIOLENTLY ill. I had a different girl friend assist me home safely, but I was barely unable to walk, talk or anything. One of the most terrifying feelings ever!!! I spent the entire night alternating between vomiting in the bathroom and passing out on the couch nearby. My nausea continued for 24 hours and the fatigue from this event persisted for a week. I am literally JUST feeling back to normal. After this experience, it really hit home with me how easily things like this can happen. IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE!!! My advice, because preventing things like this is nearly impossible, is to always have a friend with u. (At least 1). Always let people know where you are or plan to be. Im so thankful that I got home safely but my hope is to increase awareness about these things because they happen more than we think.
