I had no idea! In 1997 Paul McCartney disclosed that the song Got To Get You Into My Life was about marijuana. I wrote [the song] when I had first been introduced to pot, said McCartney in Barry Miles 1997 book PAUL MCCARTNEY: MANY YEARS FROM NOW. So [its] really a song about that, its not to a person...Its actually an ode to pot, like someone else might write an ode to chocolate or a good claret. Ill never hear this song in the same way again.
