I had occasion to block somebody on FB lately, and I wasnt entirely sure what that would do. Would that person be able to see my past posts or activity? Would they be able to see my comments on the posts of mutual friends? In the spirit of inquiry, I told the Pirate Im gonna block ya. Tell me what happens. It turns out that the answer to that question is no. The blocked person cant see anything of yours. And, if the blocked person is your spouse, your status is still married, but youre just not married *to* anybody. But once you UNBLOCK them, things dont automatically go back to the way they had been. That person still isnt your friend, and has to send a new friend request in order to see your stuff. As we found out on Sunday, when the Pirate, coming home after two days of back-to-back memorial services for family, was checking FB on his phone and realized he still couldnt see my posts. Had I blocked him again? What was going on? When he tried to call me, I didnt pick up my phone. What could have happened while he was gone that I now hated him? (I had turned off my ringer while I was at the opera Saturday and forgotten to turn it back on.) But now were friends again and married and Im taking his calls. Everythings fine. And now we know what happens when you block someone. What I wont do for an answer.
