I had planned to make a few posts this evening, but have put them - TopicsExpress

I had planned to make a few posts this evening, but have put them on hold for a day....or two....for personal reasons, including not wanting to offend anyone else this weekend (at least until I am wearing the T-shirt I posted earlier)! But I did want to make this one post mentioning that I did make it to TERRY FATORS return engagement to the EDGEWATERS E-CENTER Saturday night and it was an enjoyable couple of hours! Heres my recap of the show..... The 2,700+ seat venue was, to my surprise, totally filled! I didnt see a single empty seat for this sold-out show! The whole performance was very similar to Fators last show in Laughlin, except for the mix of actual songs and routines. Some of them were the same, but there were many new ones in this show that I dont remember from the prior performance. For those of you who missed it and havent seen Terry Fators live show before, its a cool, if not campy, one-man-plus-his-dummies set of songs, most of which are sung as impressions. There is some stand-up comedy as well, that is okay, but far from knee-slapping funny. The last half hour of the show is the expected recap of the performers rise to fame on the first season of the AMERICAS GOT TALENT competition on NBC. This part of the show was pretty much the same (or maybe even EXACTLY the same) as I remember from the first time I saw it at Terrys previous performance here. For me, hearing Terrys whole I never expected to make it past the first round routine in between a long parade of video clips from most of the television shows first seasons episodes was, in a word, old. Sorry, Terry. On the positive side, I have to say that Fator is a pretty darn good singer, especially considering he is belting out songs without opening his mouth more than a crack to do so! But, just to make sure the whole audience realizes this, there was no shortage of vidclips in the last half hour of the three wide-eyed AGT judges praising Terry again and again for being the best ventriloquist they have ever seen, at least on the TV show! His impressions of the singing legends he mimics were not exactly what I would rate as world-class, but still good....or at least funny....enough to bring a smile with almost every song. For his lower-budget, scaled-down secondary market shows, Fator has a one man band accompanying his singing, instead of a multi-piece band. Theres a single guy with a few keyboards that provide all of the musical parts, some of which are electronically recorded and stored in the digital keyboard units, while certain parts are played live by the sole musician. Terry also has a sumptuous and sultry side-kick, who brings Fators different pals on and off-stage through the whole set. Most of the singing was done as an impression, or in the character of the dummy with him on stage for the song being sung. At the end, after the long parade of video clips culminating with Terry being crowned winner of the first season of AGT, the surprised, humbled centerpiece of the show concludes the show by belting out a totally over-the-top rendition of the song MY WAY.....as himself, of course. Just a wee-bit too campy and predictable for me. Still, I enjoyed myself once again and I do give props to Terry Fator for realizing the American performers dream, and truly making it to the big time, even if he did do it his way by beating the odds of another one of those network television talent shows! Fator played for nearly a full year at the Las Vegas Hilton starting a couple months after he won the AGT competition, and following that stint, was awarded a multi-year headlining contract....and his own showroom....at the MIRAGE HOTEL in Las Vegas, where he can still be seen through most of next year!
