I had previously posted how #Uber was doing a great job in India and revolutionising the taxi space. I had also posted #OlaCabs service has been really bad and Uber infact gets it right when it comes to great service. And now here we are in a couple of weeks, Uber gets banned because one of the drivers rapes a passenger. Banning Uber and other taxi apps is a ridiculous step. How many women have been raped on government run railways, buses and public transport till now? I dont think there will be a count. But they didnt shut the railways down, isnt it? They didnt take any concrete steps to make them safe either. But I think we can have these modern taxi services change the game with regulation. With technology, we can definitely enhance the safety. We have the power to add such measure to make it really safe with basic things such as panic buttons, fingerprint scanners, GPS, late night monitoring, etc. (ofcourse along with background checks, police verification, etc.) So lets stop taking hasty decision and correct the course.
