I had skin like leather and the diamond hard look of a cobra. A little reminiscence...It was a lovely spring day in Albuquerque in 1974, and I was in my little apt. on the 100 block of Harvard by the university, listening to KUNM. I was a barely beginner musician at that point, but had some fairly concrete ideas of what was missing in rock and roll ,and what it needed to escape what I perceived to be a state of doldrums. I was just delusional enough to think that if I could just get my chops together enough, that with my vision of the fire, passion ,meaning etc that rock needed to re-attain ,and become again,maybe I could be the one to save it. Anyway, the DJ played a song that was apparently called Saint in the City or something like that. Within 2 minutes I realized it was too late for me; that whoever this band or singer was, theyd beaten me to it. When it was over, they said it was a guy by the name of Bruce Springsteen.
