I had some boxes delivered to my house today. Heavy ones. Usually the driver would make a lot of excuses not to carry them into my house. I would have to say tolong-lah or sometimes I ended up carrying them myself because I had no mood to mintak tolong. Today Kumar came. He was bothered slightly about having to remove his shoes because he would have to do that 10 times in order to bring the boxes in. So I suggested that he left them at the porch, nearer to the door, and I would take over bringing them in cos im hero like that. After the first round of struggling, Kumar said aiyoma.. you dont do.. and he went out to look for some boxes so he could step on so that the floor is not littered. He lifted 16 boxes with no complaints. Mind you, it is not his job. It is in the agreement that he was to deliver goods to doorstep, not into the house, as many times, the other drivers have argued. So I offered a small token of ringgit as appreciation. This is the best part, he declined to take the money. Honest, helpful and sincere in his line of duty. Kumar, you have my utmost respect!
