I had someone ask me if I ever have survivors guilt. I can only - TopicsExpress

I had someone ask me if I ever have survivors guilt. I can only say that Im alive, and they are dead. I cant change that, but I can enjoy everyday in their honor cause thats what I would want them to do to honor me. A soldier doesnt ask the world to quit spinning when they are away. They dont ask for birthdays or holidays to not be celebrated while they are at war, and all of the ones I knew and served with would want me to celebrate a life that they had chosen to live. While it was often full of hardships, difficulties, and sacrifices; it was a life that was very rewarding by the people you had the chance to work with in one of the last truly honorable professions. To know that you get to live and work side by side with other Americans that you can trust with your life is something that there is no equivalent to. To be a part of that strong family unit is something truly special that only 1% of the population understands. Selfless service, duty, honor, country. This week will be hard for many of us in the crossroads military community. Honoring and welcoming home someone who made the ultimate sacrifice is a reminder of how fragile life is, and how often we could have been in that same situation. You honor them, and you carry on. Welcome Home bro, RIP.
