I had someone once tell me that I need to quit thinking like a Cop. Being a Cop is not like other jobs. Just because you take off the badge doesnt mean you still dont have the knowledge, skills, and training. Even when like me when my health doesnt allow me to do the job anymore. Most people go through life with blinders on, they dont see what I right around them. I go to a social event and I still find myself searching the crowd for threats. Most people think that even though they read about crime in the newspaper, or see it reported on the news that it wont happen to them. There was a line in one of Tom Sellecks, Jesse Stone movies that hit the nail on the head. Jesse Stone is reinstated as the Chief of Police, and his girlfriend makes a comment about not knowing how she felt about sleeping with a Cop. He replies something to the effect, I was always a Cop, I just wasnt getting paid for it. I am sure that my friends in Law Enforcement understand what I am saying.
