I had the honor of addressing community leaders at todays Martin - TopicsExpress

I had the honor of addressing community leaders at todays Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Breakfast. This holiday should always inspire us to reflect upon the life of Dr. King. But this year, we have an obligation to pay special attention to the racial divide in America. We often talk about the progress we’ve made since Dr. King preached about the goal of justice for all. But the injustices we’ve witnessed during the past year are a reminder of the work we still have ahead of us. I am encouraged by the commitment in so many communities to peaceful protest against injustice. To right these wrongs, we must collectively face up to some hard truths. We are fortunate to have leaders in our community who won’t back down from this challenge. I know I won’t back down. It’s time for justice. Only then will we heal.
