I had the honor to read the obituary at my uncles funeral yesterday. He was a humble gentleman. But before I could get to the family after the burial, my phone rang. It was a young woman, Chowie. She was hysterical. She was screaming her mother was dead. She believed the ambulance didnt give her mother proper care. And she wanted me to get to the hospital asap. I raced there to console her. The law would have to wait for another day. Yesterday we grieved and hugged and cried together. The woman who died was one of my best friends Corey Rodgers sister Denise Howell aka Gerzel. Many of you know her as the hair dresser on the corner of Magnolia and Albany. She was a big sister to me and we laughed together every year since the mid 90s. She died suddenly without explanation yesterday in her early 40s. RIP. Im playing 90s dancehall all week in honor of Denise.
