I had the honour to attend Lipstick, Courage and Inner Cleavage Fundraising Event in Hamilton, Ontario. The event was in support of breast cancer research in the form of advanced breast screening with the Image-Guided Autonomous Robot ( IGAR ) manipulator. It was pioneered by Dr. Mehran Anvari of the Canadian for Surgical Invention and Innovation (CSii). Dr. Anvari’s work is a tangible example of how research and innovation can change people’s lives. The evening was also about offering hope, being inspired by courage and recognizing just how far we have come in the battle against breast cancer. Did you know? -Since 2005, Ontario has committed more than $750 million to the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research. Its 840 research projects range from innovation in prevention to better treatment delivery. -Ontario was recently named one of the top performers in cancer survival rates in a study of 12 jurisdictions across six countries.
