I had the opportunity, and honor, of attending a great Minneapolis Labor Retiree Meeting today, with one of the highlights being an excellent address by Secretary of State Mark Ritchie. Marks comments highlighted the importance of voting, and the superb track record Minnesota has maintained on leading the nation in the percentage of voters, and the great improvements in helping more Minnesotans vote. Minnesota also lead the nation in the level of volunteerism, and in Charitable Contributions per Citizen. One of Ritchies great quotes was that a Lie could travel around the world in the morning, before the truth gets its pants on. We all have to be vigilant to pursue the truth, and defend it and share it, to defend democracy. This speech, and the enthusiasm of the other retirees and officers who were present, and their dedicated work to continue to support quality education, postal service, and good government, was inspiring.
