I had the opportunity to perform at NATS (National Association of Teachers and Singing) today. Dealing with performance anxiety, I was able to provide the best ever performance and was completely confident I would place in the top three. The results were posted shortly after and I didnt place. My confidence was completely shaken and I immediately began to doubt my ability. I received my notes from the judges and learned that I was actually disqualified from my division due to a lack of correct repertoire. My vocal teacher had the opportunity to talk to my judges who all revealed that I would have placed 1st had I sung the correct repertoire. So, yes I would very much enjoy a certificate with big fat 1ST PLACE underneath my name. To be able show who I am and what I am capable of to the world but its more important to understand who I am and what I am capable of for MYSELF. I know that I am a Daughter of God who has blessed me with this tremendous talent. I know have the best of best friends and the most incredible mother to support and comfort me with love and hugs :) I am so grateful I have the most loving, caring, and hardworking vocal teacher I could ask for who has done wonders with my voice! This shocking situation has humbled me but to quote Wicked, I have been changed for the better. Thank you to all for the support, love and prayers. I do plan on performing in the Spring NATS Regional competition with the CORRECT Repertoire. I will post my performance either later tonight or tomorrow!
