I had the opportunity today to visit two humbling places, St. Augustines Old Jail and the Mission of Nombre De Dios. The first place featured the location where criminals where hung in the early 1900s, the hanging tree and the gallows. The second location was where a Spanish priest first preached the gospel in America in the 1500s. Today, the largest metal cross in the West is found on that spot along with a mission church. It caused me to remember the penalty of sin and how thankful I am for the sacrifice of Christ. I am thankful for that minister who answered the call of God, left him home to come to America, so that today I could know Christ as Lord and Savior. Today on this Thanksgiving Day 2014, I am thankful for grace and mercy.
