I had the pleasure of traveling to Henderson, yesterday, to serve as the guest speaker at the United Way of Vance County Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon, and I was able to discuss a topic near and dear to my heart: literacy. At the conclusion of my presentation, I was presented with a book that would be donated in my honor to the Public Library and five additional books that I would have the opportunity to present to a local elementary schools library. I couldnt think of a more appropriate and thoughtful gesture by such a wonderful organization! Once the meeting had come to an end, I traveled to E.M. Rollins Elementary School to present the books I had been gifted as my small but important contribution to the schools library. Fortunately, I was able to squeeze in some quality reading time with some pretty awesome third graders. Thank you to the Get Connected - United Way of Vance County for inviting me back to be a part of such a remarkable day in education! An additional thank you goes out to Matthew and Jessica Todd for being such wonderful hosts during my time in Henderson!
