I had the privilege and honor to earned my Eight degree BBJ belt - TopicsExpress

I had the privilege and honor to earned my Eight degree BBJ belt directly from the three Grand Masters :Joao Alberto Barreto,Alvaro Barreto and Flavio Behring, back on November,2008.For sure I`ll be always proud of such moment. But, on daily basis, what really matters is how much we are able to pass to our students, how can we performing the techniques and keeping our minds opened to an endless learning process. The color of the belt, the graduation level, by themselves, are not relevant,if the recipient cannot prove his skills on the mats.I use to say:unlike most of the other martial arts, the BJJ Professors must show physically the moves, and sparring as much as possible with the students and other high level graduates, even when they are aged. Of course, and regardless of age, injuries are sometimes a serious problem to be overcome. However,at least the BJJ Professor must be able to show the technique and explain it with all the details. With the years on the mats, competing and teaching, coaching, the BJJ Professors should be ready to identify on each fighter what works better to him or her,and be open minded to hear them and work together, not imposing his opinions ,but listen and evaluate each technical and tactical aspect.Such behavior should be applied for all sort of combat sports, from BJJ to MMA. Now ,go training!UNION!
