I had the privilege of meeting this young boy at the SMEC (Suva Multi Ethnic Church) Retreat in Deuba today. He is Christopher Sundar, 15 and lives in Wailea Settlement, Vatuwaqa. The last time I met him was during his baptism on June 8th, 2013 at the Vatuwaqa SDA Church. Tomorrow will be his one year anniversary since his baptism and what interest me is his faithfulness and commitment although his family is not Adventist. He even came to the retreat alone. Of Hindu background, he first heard of Jesus when Frontline Missionaries visited his home. They prayed over him as he had left school in class 4 because he cannot read. He said that after the prayer, everything changed. He resumed classes, learning to read became interesting and easy and he continued to pray. He is now in class 7 at the Vishnu Deo Primary School, Raiwaqa and has been appointed a Prefect of the school, something he could he can only dream of. When asked why he loves coming to church, he shyly replied ‘…because I know the true God, I trust Him and every Sabbath I like learning about God and meeting friends…’ He prays that one day his family will join him for church and he excitedly mentioned that they are slowly learning the truth…’My father prays to God at home and he is giving his tithes to church…’ Praise God for Christoper that at a young age, he can be a beacon of light to his family.
