I had the strangest experience today . I just had left a hospital where I was giving a lecture, which is about 2 hours drive from where I live. I always use the GPS on my cell phone because this hospital is in a very rural area in the countryside otherwise I would never make it home . When I left the hospital I set the GPS to get back to Taichung . I started to drive and I drove for 45 minutes through some very lonely roads in the countryside. I crossed an intersection and in front of me laying on the street was a very old lady laying next to her scooter. I pulled over got out of the car and went to her, apparently she had suffered from heat heatstroke , today was specially hot. I call the ambulance and carried her to the back of my car until the ambulance came. when the ambulance arrived we started an IV and then they took her to the hospital. I got back in my car and started to drive the direction which I was heading on in the beginning . I drove about 40 meters when I looked at my phone again the arrow was pointing the wrong way , 17 kilometers the wrong way . I then made a u-turn and went back the same way I came and arrived at the highway which for some reason I didnt see when I was driving supposably towards the highway. This elderly woman could have easily died from dehydration in the middle of a very hot day if the GPS on my cell phone had not malfunction. This left me thinking the whole day about the idea, that there are no accidents in life. Things happen for a reason, regardless of how insignificant it may be.
