I had the surgery i.e Tympanoplasty & Mastoidectomy in my right - TopicsExpress

I had the surgery i.e Tympanoplasty & Mastoidectomy in my right ear on 2nd July, 2013. T I was given LA. The doctors( doc) gave me four injections of MONOSAF, three on the outer ear and one inside the ear. I was told that this LA is also given in cases of delivery(segerian). By LA I was fully consious during the whole surgery. The doc first performed Mastiodectomy. This took around 1-1.5 hours. In the X- ray taken earlier the report mentioned about excess calcification in the bone. The doc. put a lot of liquid medicines and then done surgery to clean the spaces around bone and flushed out( through suction pump) the liquid which they put. Then the wrost part started i.e drillling. The ENT surgen looked into mircroscope and ordered his colleague to start the drilling process, it contiune for a few seconds and then stop. The surgen again ask his colleague to start. This whole cycle was terrifying as noise generated was huge. I was praying and repeating Hanuman- Jalisa( a religious prayer) and was concentrating on my breath. After the drilling was over doc. cut a part of skin from the right ear. Smell of buring of skin was there. Then put that skin on the hole in the year and fixed it. This part got over in around one hour. The ENT doc gave discharge summary and asked me take the medicines prescribed for five days and see him on 6.07.2013. On 6.07.2013 he removed one big bandage and only one smaller was there in the ear. He asked me to come on 9 th July. On 9th he cut the structures removed the ear plud and asked me to continue the medicines for another 5 days. In all after eight days( including the day of surger) I was able to go to work. It has been only 22 days after the surgery. I will be able to comments about the benefits after 3-4 month. If there is no discharge from the right ear in the next 3-4 month then I will consider undergoing this surgery worthwhile.
