I had this up here for a minute then I took it down and re-posted on the Hawaiian Air FB page then they took it down immediately. Ok assholes...this is for you. Hawaiian Airlines P.O. Box 30008 Honolulu, HI 96820 To whom it may concern; I am writing in regard to the treatment my wife and I received by a flight attendant named Trev on flight HA23 from OAK to OGG on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. We have flown Hawaiian many times and have always enjoyed the service and fair pricing. But this time we encountered a problem unlike any that I have had on this or other airlines and I have been flying for over 40 years. I am a 71 year old prostate cancer survivor and always request an aisle seat as I need to be near a lavatory. My wife has serious back and ankle problems and required a wheel chair. First of all, it was difficult to get timely wheelchair service at the Oakland airport although, once we did, a very nice lady helped us get on board, however we barely made it on time. At the gate, our seats were arbitrarily switched from our previously chosen aisle seats that were closer to the lavatories, to a bulkhead pair by the attendant there. As the flight progressed, we ran into a lengthy period of turbulence that lasted one hour or more. We were required to stay strapped in. I had to urinate badly so when it was safe, I went up to the first class attendants and requested to use the forward rest room as it was closest and not busy. At that point Trev got up and initially said no, I wasn’t allowed to do that and had to go back to coach. I let him know clearly that this was an emergency situation. He then relented but proceeded to lecture me while following me to the rest room that HE would allow this ONLY this one time and that I was to NEVER do this again while shaking his finger at me. When I came out, I quietly told him that I thought he was being rude. Trev then followed me back to my seat speaking with a raised voice, and wanted to debate me as to who was the rude person, calling me rude and then going on about how it’s against federal law for me to use the forward toilet and “out of the kindness of his heart” he had allowed me to do so just that one time. I asked him if he didn’t have something better to do with his time and he raised his voice with more argumentative language that was clearly disturbing other passengers including small children and an older gentleman who got up and changed his seat after asking Trev to quiet down. I thought I heard him utter an obscenity that he denied when I asked him. He also threatened to report me to the authorities. Then I saw him go into the cockpit. The pilot came on a bit later to gently remind coach passengers that they should use their own facilities. Trev then began to stomp angrily up and down the aisle displaying his poor temperament for all to see. His inappropriate treatment and threatening personality caused my wife and me an upsetting situation that we could not easily dismiss. It, in fact, affected the very lovely Hawaiian vacation that we had been planning for two years. I understand there are rules which we always follow but occasionally they need to be bent in service of the needs of any passengers with an emergency situation, not just those that pay more. This has happened on rare occasions on other flights and was NEVER a problem. Trev was the most unprofessional person I have ever encountered on any flight. All other attendants were friendly but made sure the rules were clear. It wasn’t a personal matter with them where they felt the need to be rude and force their will power on the consumer. It is clear that we have a choice in which airlines to fly. We returned home on Alaska Air where the wheelchair service was prompt and ALL employees were as accommodating as possible. This situation has caused us to seriously reconsider flying on Hawaiian Air again. We hope this letter is read and that appropriate measures are taken. Sincerely; Mel and Catey Martin
