I had to gather my thoughts before writing this post. In my 4 years of doing nails, I had experienced for the first time a most terrifying medical emergency with a client. A month prior to this incident I received a brochure from my doggies vet regarding a Pet First Aid course. I decided to look further into this course because my Japanese Chin, Nikko Yamasaki, has a breathing issue that can cause him to go into respiratory distress. I went to the Red Cross site. As I was looking over the list of courses and certifications, I made a comment to my sweetie, Corey, about how I should take a course and get certified for people. He said, That would be a great idea since you never know what may happen with a client with a medical condition. So here I am with this post. I was faced with just that...a terrifying medical emergency. Although I was shaken, the good news is the client is doing well. (I will not elaborate on the details). I am making it a priority to get certified in First Aid, CPR & AED, Pediatrics and Bloodborne Pathogens Training. If you are not already trained and certified, I highly suggest you think about doing so! You never know if you are faced with a life or death situation. redcross.org
