I had to laugh while in conversation with a teacher this morning. He said that his school wont employ any more Filipinos because they do too much singing and dancing in class, regardless of the student age group. Weve even had Filipinos teach Science and manage to turn the boiling point of liquids into a clappy hands song It cant be as bad as all that can it? I never had that problem with Filipinos personally, but I had issues with the farang God squad a couple of times when I was an academic director. First day of class, new female teacher,introductions over with, and the class were singing Jesus is my Saviour or something similar with worried looks on their faces. I pulled the teacher to one side at the end of the day and told her she couldnt use class time to spread the gospel. Three days later, she brought a guitar in and before long the class were singing along to another ditty. I had to let the teacher go at the end of the week but not before she had chance to stand in the doorway, cast a stink eye in my direction and shout dont run from Jesus! From that day I used to ask teachers at interviews Do you have a guitar at home? No. Good.
