I had to take Carter into the emergency room around 5am. He couldnt stop coughing and vomiting, so I figured I better not wait to call the doctor. Everything ended up being fine. He tested positive for RSV. I have to give him nebulizer treatments now, too! Hes sleeping peacefully now. :) In the bed next to us was a 90 year old woman who had broken her hip. She was very ornery...but yeah, I would be, too. She was screaming at the top of her lungs every time the nurses touched her. I sat there realizing the vulnerability that I was witnessing...my 5 month old solely relying on me and Doug for care and this woman towards the end of her life who had to rely solely on her daughter. The woman was just as vulnerable and needy at Carter. But even with their needs, they both have the same amount of human dignity as me and you. In order to protect one who is vulnerable, we must protect all who are vulnerable.
