I hardly make political commentaries, I do not speak Nigerianese. People like Viola Okolie do it so much berra, so i respect myself. I basically pray for my country and leave it there. A recent mix up I saw coming from a distance is upsetting me a lot. Journalism in Nigeria is dead. The corpse that should be buried is left to continue spreading misinformation faster than Ebola! During the week, the family of the Ebola patients made public issues pertaining to the care of their relatives. Highlighted was the consultant and Endocrinologist that was in critical condition. A few days later Onyebuchi released a statement about the first recovered patient and the name of the patient was not disclosed. Someone somewhere armed with the name of the doctor (the consultant), put 2 and 2 together and arrived at 22. A miraculous recovery was attributed to the wrong doctor. I watched it become viral. To my shock, the story I first saw on a social blog was being reported by legitimate media organisations. Isnt this kind of information easily verifiable? Her family made a statement saying the mentioned doctor was still in critical condition. Ministry of health had to make a statement reminding us that they never mentioned names. Investigative journalists that cannot go to Yaba isolation centre but will want us to believe that the infiltrated human trafficking gangs! So all it takes to be a journalist is to buy 200MB on your HP laptop and proceed to copy and paste and post?? Ikhide R. Ikheloa is right.
