I has a slight detour on my way to Abu Dhabi Thursday. I missed my connecting plane in Amsterdam even though I had 6 hours between flights. Something about exhaustion, sleeping on and off sitting straight up in a chair at the airport, roaming the airport, well that Gate was changed after I checked it 3 times. Missed the plane. This made room for another adventure. My daughter Marion inspired me as we travelled together this summer. I decided to follow her cue and make the best of this situation. I found a discounted hotel in the center of the city, took the bus 45 minutes to the museum area, and walked the rest of the way to the hotel. People were all wonderful telling me corners to turn to reach this small hotel. Last night I was outside the Anne Frank house. Tours were booked so getting inside was not an option. I did take Big Bus tour of the city passing by the Van Gogh Museum, Rembrants birthplace, Rijks Museum, and heard the history of this city. I didnt make it to any of those special coffee shops that many of my Detroit friends come to visit. The special smokes they serve werent needed because I was super high on exhaustion. My evening wrapped up in an Irish bar drinking a Heineken which was brewed around the corner and enjoying a comfort meal of Irish Stew. Today I am up and good to go back to Ghayathi via Abu Dhabi. The driver who was suppose to take me across the desert last night agreed to come and get me tonight. I am to meet him in the coffee shop in the airport. It is my fortune that Yusef was forgiving of me missing my flight. That is my report from the airways as I travel. Peace to everyone.
