I hate being here but the PEOPLE make it so great, so it really softens the blow of not being with my family. First of all, my nurse (shes turned out to be my favorite of all of them I have had), Kelly, is from Hong Kong. We have some special east/west thing going and we just click. She never makes a mistake and she loves my little Cantonese that I speak to her. I am back on the 6th floor (The Varsity) for the first time since my transplant so I am seeing some familiar faces. One of those is Ferris, a new male nurse, who was assigned to me many nights during my transplant and we got on well. I see him today and offers to give platelets in my name. What a guy! Then I just went on a walk with a Physical Therapist, Linda, who donated her kidney to her brother a few years ago - I cant get over how many wonderful people work here and dedicate their lives to the healing of others. Its fantastic! I will get better with all of my friends support and this staffs support here at COH.
