I hate how the Doctors today wont tell you anything over the phone. Its so crazy that we all have to reschedule everything for a simple conversation. We have to be tortured for days at a time for a simple piece of paper. My appt. was moved up and on a Thursday I was given my official diagnoses of Cancer. The second report was the same as the first. Dr. Garcia came in with her laptop and sat in a chair facing me almost knee to knee. Ive scheduled a 10am appt for you tomorrow in Syracuse to be seen by a oncologist who specializes in Cervical and Ovarian Cancers. I asked why that specific Doctor, being that there were others in that area. Because he could get you in the fastest. That urgency frightened me. She flipped open her laptop and sat there looking confused. Brooke, besides earlier this month, when was your last pap? I told her 2010. I had to have one before my surgery I had an IUD removed and replaced. Like many others before me. The Maraina does tend to get stuck but, it also tends to not give you a period as well. That part alone made it worth it. Apparently, there was no record of my having one at all. So we traced back further. In 2007 I had had a pap done and was told after, I could begin going every 3 yrs, being that I never once tested for HPV in my past. I guess thats how the insurance companies do it now. They figure its less money for them to shell out for woman who suddenly show HPV. Why not spend less money giving these woman LEEPS, hysterectomies, radiation and chemo? Yeah, lets not test woman who never show HPV all that time. Well just deal with there Cancer and bad cells if it comes along after 3 years or so. Boils my blood. So, we have now established that its been 6 years since my last pap and Im petrified that my 2007 pap is now a false negative and this beast is taking over my body and has been for years!!! I guess I would know the following day after this surgeon has seen me.. More waiting. It just becomes part of the deal.
